The holiday season is a perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek out ways to make life better for those around us.  In this spirit, Springfield Rotarians have been busy spreading holiday cheer.

On Friday, December 18th, a large representation of Springfield Rotarians spent a Friday afternoon at Jerry’s Home Improvement Center.  Their mission was to escort 25 business owners through Jerry’s with the purpose of replacing tools lost during the Holiday Farm fire.  Jerry’s donated a $500.00 gift certificate to each of the 25 business owners, allowing us to increase the impact of District 5110s donation.  With Jerry’s generous contribution we were able to double the number of recipients and all received $1,000.00.  WOW!

On Sunday December 20th, Hole in the Wall BBQ served 250 meals to families impacted by the Holiday Farm fire who are still living up the McKenzie River.  With financial support from community members, an in kind donation from Hole in the Wall and a $5,000.00 donation from Springfield Rotary, these families enjoyed a holiday feast with Smoked Pitt Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Seasoned Green Beans, Candied Yams, Fresh Tossed Salad with Sonora Ranch Dressing, Sweet Rolls with Butter & Pumpkin Pie.  Leftovers have been donated to Crossfire Ministries and will be served to additional Springfield families who could use a little help this holiday season.  Thank you District Governor Cindi O’Neil and husband Mike for making the trip from Bend and spending the afternoon with us. WOW!

Through the generous support of Bi-Mart and funds from the District 5110 Fire Relief fund, 99 winter coats were delivered to adults and children who are residing in hotels around the Eugene / Springfield area.  These families do not have easy access to the relief centers in Rainbow and Blue River so caring Rotarians bagged and delivered coats to these families in time for Christmas. WOW!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all Rotarians who coordinated and assisted with getting these impactful projects to the finish line.  Several of us have talked with recipients of Rotary’s assistance and the gratitude and appreciation is heartwarming.  Rotarians made a difference this weekend.

The challenges we have faced in 2020 continue to test our resiliency as individuals and as a community but Rotarians and local businesses continue to join together in impressive ways.  Please support our local businesses in whatever way you can this holiday season.
Wishing each of you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
