October 16, 2020, Eugene, OR — OCCU Foundation (OCCUF), the philanthropic arm of Oregon Community Credit Union (OCCU), is donating $100,000 to aid wildfire recovery efforts across the state. On Sept. 9, OCCUF launched its Fire Relief Fund to provide support to nonprofits caring for Oregonians impacted by wildfire.

Wildfires in Oregon, many started in a four-day period around Labor Day (Sept. 7), have burned more than one million acres and destroyed thousands of homes and other structures. The foundation committed to match up to $100,000 of funds raised through its Fire Relief Fund. That goal has been achieved, and now the fund has more than $200,000 committed to assist in the relief and rebuilding efforts throughout Oregon.

“In early September, Oregon was impacted by nine fires in a short amount of time and immediate relief for displaced residents took priority,” said Ron Neumann, OCCU President & CEO and OCCUF Board Chair. “Much of our state has been devastated by these wildfires and the journey to rebuild will be a long one, OCCU Foundation is proud to work alongside our community partners as we come together to support the long road to recovery.”

100% of the Fire Relief Fund will go to nonprofit partners dedicated to providing critical services that aid in the rebuilding and recovery process across the state.

“We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to OCCU Foundation’s Fire Relief Fund,” said Neumann, “We are still accepting donations, making grants and investing in long-term efforts to rebuild our impacted communities,” he continued.

“We are still accepting donations, making grants and investing in long-term efforts to rebuild our impacted communities.”
