City of Springfield Launches FY27 Proposed Budget Adoption Process

The City of Springfield will kick off its FY27 budget process with the publication of the proposed budget on April 20, 2026. Public meetings of the City of Springfield Budget Committee begin Monday, May 4, 2026. These meetings provide an opportunity for residents to observe and comment on the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027.

Meetings will be held in-person at Springfield Justice Center (230 Fourth Street, EOC) and virtually via Zoom. Community input is an important part of the budget process, and all residents are encouraged to participate. Public comment will be taken during the May 4 meeting, listed as “Business from the Audience” on the agenda.

– Tuesday, May 5 at 5:30pm – Springfield Economic Development Agency (SEDA) Budget Presentation and Action, City Budget Committee Deliberation

– Wednesday, May 6 at 5:30pm – State Shared Revenue, City Budget Committee Deliberation, Budget Approval Motions

Public Comment Opportunities
Community members are encouraged to share input on the proposed FY 2027 budget in the following ways:

1. In-person: Provide comments during the public comment portion of the May 4 meeting (listed on the agenda as “Business from the Audience”). Speakers may have up to three minutes; time limits may be adjusted based on the number of participants.

2. Online (Zoom): Join the meeting via Zoom and use the “raise hand” feature during the public comment portion (“Business from the Audience”) to request to speak.

3. Email: Submit comments to budget@springfield-or.gov by 1:00 p.m. on May 4. Please include your name and ward.

Background on the Budget Committees
The City of Springfield Budget Committee is a 12-member panel composed of six elected City Councilors and six appointed Springfield electors. They review and deliberate on the proposed annual budget.

The SEDA Budget Committee includes the same 12 members, plus Mayor Sean VanGordon, Lane County Commissioner David Loveall, and appointed Springfield electors from the Glenwood and Downtown Urban Renewal Districts who either live or own businesses within those districts.
