NextStep Recycling, local nonprofit and active member of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, has been awarded an $8,000 grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation to strengthen its Job Skills Training Department.

The funds will support critical lighting upgrades in the training area, helping to launch a new Technical Training Certification Program aimed at increasing employment pathways for participants.

The grant is part of the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation’s latest funding cycle, which awarded more than $759,000 to 84 nonprofit organizations serving communities in seven Southern Oregon counties, including Lane County. Since its founding in 1997, the Foundation has distributed more than $26 million to organizations dedicated to improving lives through education, community development, and basic needs support.

NextStep’s mission-driven work in workforce development, reuse and recycling, and digital inclusion continues to make an impact in Springfield and beyond. As a recipient, NextStep Recycling applauds the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation for its ongoing commitment to empowering local organizations and investing in brighter futures.
