Greenhill’s 32nd Annual Bark in the Park Returns this Sunday

Lace up for Greenhill Humane Society’s 32nd annual Bark in the Park! The community event and fundraiser to help thousands of local, homeless pets returns to Alton Baker Park on May 18.
Alton Baker Park goes to the dogs when Greenhill Humane Society’s 32nd Annual Bark in the Park returns on Sunday, May 18th. This annual dog-friendly event is set to draw over 1,400 people and their pups and is one of Greenhill’s biggest fundraisers, with the shelter’s goal to raise $100,000 to help care for over 5,500 animals in 2025.
“We are excited for the return of Greenhill’s 32nd annual Bark in the Park! This is one of our largest events and by far the most fun. Regardless of whether you are interested in running or walking the races, or even have a dog to bring, this is a wonderful family-friendly event, and all animal lovers are invited! This is a great opportunity to support Greenhill’s life-saving programs while spending the morning with lots of happy pups.”
– Kelly Fleishcmann, Community Engagement Manager, Greenhill Humane Society
Festivities of Bark in the Park include a 2K, 5K, 10K run or walk, canine activities, vendor booths, human and dog food options, demonstrations, contests, prizes, and more. This annual event draws more than 1,000 people and their pets in celebration of the human-animal bond. Bark in the Park is the largest pet event in the Southern Willamette Valley and one of the largest run/walks in Eugene. Runners can participate as an individual with or without a dog and start or join a team. Bark in the Park is a professionally chip-timed race through Eclectic Edge Racing.
Participants are encouraged to fundraise for the animals. 100% of donations raised go towards helping the animals. For perspective:
- Every $5 raised can help feed an animal for a day.
- Every $15 raised can help provide a microchip for a pet.
- Every $35 raised can help provide vaccines.
- Every $75 raised can help provide a spay or neuter surgery.
This year, Greenhill hopes to raise $100,000 for the animals. The shelter relies on donations and grants for much of its funding, which is used for a variety of services and resources for the animals and the community. In addition to caring for over 5,000 homeless, lost and neglected pets, Greenhill programs include adoption services, humane education, a Community Pet Pantry, domestic violence assistance, senior assistance, pet retention assistance, spay/neuter programs, disaster response, volunteer opportunities, and foster care opportunities.
