Legislative Update: January 28, 2025

As the Oregon State legislative session convened for the first time on January 21, 2025, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce has been diligently tracking legislative updates and action alerts that relate to the business community. Partnering with the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce (OSCC) for legislative insight, the Springfield Chamber remains focused on addressing the issues that matter most to its members.

This week, the Springfield Chamber is watching House Bill 3119, which would delay the Oregon DEQ’s ‘Advanced Clean Trucks’ (ACT) rule until 2027. Notably, Springfield’s own District 7 Representative John Lively has listed HB 3119 as one of his regular sponsored bills.

Back in November, the OSCC issued an action alert to Stop the Diesel Truck & RV Ban before the ACT Rule went into effect January 1, 2025. Now, the OSCC is urging another call to action as HB 3119 presents a final opportunity to pause the ACT Rule for another two years. Pausing this rule would give much needed relief to keystone industries in Oregon including trucking, agriculture, building and construction, wood products, logistics, and many others.

The House Committee on Climate, Energy, and Environment is hosting the next public hearing for HB 3119 this Thursday, January 30, at 8:00AM PST.
