Springfield Public Library Hours Changing July 6

Share:

Beginning July 6, 2026, the Springfield Public Library will be open Tuesday through Saturday and closed on Mondays.

This schedule change is one part of the City of Springfield’s broader, long-term effort to align services with available resources while maintaining operational continuity and supporting long-term financial stability.

The Springfield Public Library will continue serving the community through core library services, access to materials, public computers, reader assistance, children’s programming, community programs, and seasonal activities.

Many library programs and services will continue, including:

  • Storytime and early literacy programs
  • Summer Reading Challenge for babies, kids, teens, and adults
  • Multicultural Plaza programming
  • Monthly book groups, including Willamalibrary Book Group and Grupo de Lectura, a Spanish language book group
  • Drop-In Tech Help on Fridays from 10:30 to 11:30am
  • Dedicated teen space, resources, games, and access to library services
  • Access to books, digital resources, and library collections
  • Public computer access
  • Staff support and reader assistance

The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge begins June 8 and runs through August 22. The Summer Reading Challenge is free and open to all ages, including babies, kids, teens, and adults. No library card is needed to participate. Kids and teens who sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge will receive a book to keep, while supplies last. Participants can access the Summer Reading Challenge here.

The City is sharing this information in advance so library users have time to plan ahead and adjust to the new schedule.
