Weekly Concerts in the Park Series Returns to Island Park this July and August
Admission is free with a non-perishable food donation
Willamalane Park and Recreation District is holding its annual Concerts in the Park series Wednesday evenings throughout July and August at Island Park at 200 West B Street in Springfield. Attendees can enjoy live music, savor delicious food and beer, and explore unique offerings from local vendors. A different band will perform each week, offering a variety of musical styles throughout the summer. The full schedule is available below.
The concerts run weekly from July 17 to August 7 on Wednesdays. Opening acts begin at 5:15pm, and headliners start at 6:30pm. Admission is FREE with a non-perishable food donation, which benefits the food pantry at Willamalane Adult Activity Center and Willamalane’s Little Free Pantries around Springfield. The gates and concessions open at 5pm.
The event schedule is as follows:
JULY 17: SUGAR BEETS
Headliner: Sugar Beets, a Eugene-based band that recently performed at the Oregon County Fair, will fill the park with traditional and contemporary bluegrass, folk and country songs.
Opening act: Fooble the Dragon
JULY 24: SON DE CUBA
Headliner: Son de Cuba, a Portland-based band and returning favorite to the concert series, will showcase modern and classic Latin American songs.
Opening act: Whistling Mitch Musical Variety Show
JULY 31: CODE RED
Headliner: Code Red, another returning favorite act and Eugene-based band, will bring their high-energy, ‘80s rock style to the park.
Opening act: Mariachi band
AUGUST 7: JENNY DON’T and the SPURS
Headliner: Jenny Don’t and the Spurs will bring their unique, high-energy Country Western music to the final concert. This Portland-based band has captivated audiences for over a decade and was recently featured on NPR.
Opening act: David Grinder Magic Show
