Sacred Heart at RiverBend cardiac program honored for quality care
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend has been recognized as a top-performing cardiac site by the Foundation for Health Care Quality’s Cardiac Care Outcomes Assessment Program (COAP). COAP also named PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash., as a top performer.
To qualify for this honor, heart programs must demonstrate that they meet or exceed the regional average in six of the eight COAP quality metrics. Both RiverBend and St. John performed at or better than seven of the eight metrics, which include:
- Percentage of STEMIs with door-to-balloon times less than or equal to 90 minutes
- Radial access PCI in patients with STEMI
- Cardiogenic shock
- Bleeding events within 72 Hours
- Blood transfusion
- Emergency CABG
- Acute kidney injury
- Median contrast volume
“This achievement signifies the highest level of quality care delivered by our cardiac interventionalists and the cardiac catheterization lab team at RiverBend,” said Mary Kingston, chief executive, PeaceHealth Oregon Network. “I am so proud of the caregivers, providers and leaders who earned this recognition through their unwavering commitment to put the patient at the center of all they do.”

About the Foundation for Health Care Quality Clinical Outcomes Assessment Program (COAP): The Foundation was formed in 1997. COAP’s purpose is to support all hospitals and clinicians in achieving the highest levels of patient care and outcomes. COAP convenes clinicians from across the region at monthly meetings to review data, discuss current challenges, and identify areas for improvement. Individual hospitals and physicians are supported with real time data reports and access to COAP community resources and expertise. Every June, members convene to award excellence in cardiac care, review the prior year’s data, share practice, discuss current issues in cardiac care and further build community.
