Springfield Night at the Drifters Celebrates Community Partnership

Mayor Sean VanGordon to throw out first pitch

The City of Springfield and community partners will join the Springfield Drifters to host Springfield Night on Tuesday, June 2 at the Hamlin Sports Complex.

The event brings together local agencies as Team Springfield to connect with residents in a fun, family-friendly setting. The long-term goal is to establish Opening Night at Hamlin Sports Complex as an annual Springfield Night, highlighting the organizations that serve the community.

Event Schedule:

What: Springfield Night at the Drifters
When: Tuesday, June 2, 2026

• Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
• First pitch at 6:35 p.m.

Where: Hamlin Sports Complex, Springfield

Visuals and Coverage Opportunities:

• Interview availability with Mayor Sean VanGordon from 6:00-6:20 p.m.
• Visuals include the National Anthem, community crowd, and the ceremonial first pitch
• Community partner tables engaging with families
• A “passport card” activity for attendees
• Team Springfield representatives connecting with residents
• Photo/video space available near the first baseline; please check in with staff on arrival
