Downtown Springfield to Come Alive for 6th Annual Block Party

The City of Springfield invites residents and visitors to the 6th Annual Springfield’s The Block Party powered by SELCO on Friday, September 5 in Historic Downtown. This vibrant, family-friendly event celebrates community connection with live music, street performers, food trucks, and engaging activities for all ages.
Stop by the City’s booth to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Ken Kesey Mural with limited-edition swag, prizes, and a live mural refresh by the original artists.
In addition to the mural festivities, this year’s Block Party will feature:
Springfield Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting (4:00pm at 4th & Main)
- Join the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and leadership from Team Springfield in marking the official start of the evening with a ribbon cutting!
Mini-Transportation Hub (near Springfield History Museum, 5th–6th Street):
- FREE Valet Bike Parking courtesy of Springfield BPAC & Cascadia Mobility (located at 4th and Main Streets, across from PublicHouse)
- FREE Bike Lights + Swag while supplies last
- FREE Learn-To-Ride Sessions by Safe Routes to School for beginner riders
Public Safety + Preparedness Zone (4th & Main, SE corner):
- Springfield Police Department: Meet the Community Outreach Team and Volunteers (located at 5th and Main Street)
- Emergency Management Table – Get prepared for emergencies with:
- CERT-provided emergency giveaways (bags, pens, sunscreen, lip balm)
- Literature and guidance on creating a personal disaster kit
- Information about the Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan and how to get involved
Where Minds Grow: Library & Museum Activities
- Springfield Public Library and Springfield History Museum will host family-friendly activities, books, and information tables
- Visit their second station at the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on the City Hall Fountain Plaza, happening concurrently with the Block Party
