Greenhill Humane Society Among 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon

Greenhill Humane Society is honored to be among Oregon Business Magazine’s “2025 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon.” Greenhill placed sixty-eighth with a score of 241.24.
The list of the 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon showcases companies and nonprofits whose employees anonymously rate their employers’ sustainability efforts highly. The workplaces on the list have made measurable efforts to reduce their environmental footprint and adopt more sustainable practices.

Greenhill Humane Society has made improvements to the facilities and operations to address environmental sustainability and improve workplace policies. In 2019, the shelter underwent an extensive remodel and expansion to incorporate extensive daylighting and energy-efficient LED light fixtures, a heating system designed to incorporate passive zones and heat recapture, and wastewater filtration onsite using plants. Greenhill has transitioned much of its activities to paperless processes. Additionally, Greenhill emphasizes recycling with easy options to recycle throughout the shelter and strives to purchase items in bulk to minimize trips and reduce packaging.

Greenhill Humane Society has been caring for animals in Lane County since 1944. It is a private, non-profit organization that relies on charitable donations. Greenhill is located at 88530 Green Hill Road in Eugene. They envision a world in which all animals are treated with compassion and respect. In 2024, Greenhill assisted 5,942 animals through our life-saving programs. Greenhill dogs, cats, and rabbits are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, receive recommended vaccinations, and are microchipped.
