Free Track & Field Events for Kids to Celebrate the Prefontaine Classic
Two RunJumpThrow Competitions on May 26 and the Pre Classic Youth Meet on May 28

RunJumpThrow at Willamalane and Kidsports
Local kids will experience the magic of track and field at free RunJumpThrow events co-hosted by USA Track & Field, Willamalane Park and Recreation District, and Kidsports. On Thursday, May 26, Willamalane and Kidsports will host two free track and field events for kids in Springfield and Eugene.
All participants in all three events will receive a pair of tickets to the Prefontaine Classic, the premier track & field meet in the United States, which honors the life and legacy of legendary track star Steve Prefontaine. Since 1975, the prestigious event has taken place annually at the iconic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene and is part of the Wanda Diamond League, the annual worldwide series of elite track and field athletic competitions.
At the RunJumpThrow event, coaches will guide kids ages 6-13 in the basics of running, jumping, and throwing skills. Kids may have a chance to meet current or former athletes at the events. Kids will participate in a variety of activity stations including agility, relays, jumping, throwing, hurdle drills, and much more.

Pre Classic Youth Meet
On Saturday, May 28, kids ages 7-14 are invited to compete in the Pre Classic Youth Meet. It’s a chance to run, jump, and throw at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon and experience the Hayward magic. Registration is now open and is free to all!

- Who: All youth ages 7-14
- Events: 100m, 800m, Long Jump, Turbo Javelin
- Every participant receives: FREE exclusive participation medal & 2 General Admission tickets to the Prefontaine Classic
